1973 Corvette EFI Conversion using an LT1 intake manifold

Modifications:

This is a 73 Corvette that has been converted to fuel injection. The owner had the engine rebuilt previous to coming to us. It still uses its factory cast iron heads and did use the factory intake and carb. Everything was modified and a 230/230 cam was installed when the engine was rebuilt. The car ran well and performed well too but the owner desired something more. Instead of using an aftermarket EFI unit, we devised a plan to combine what GM had to offer to make the car run. So an LT1 intake was modified to accept a tradition distributor(MSD in this case) and tapped for coolant fittings. LT1 corvette fuel rails were used as well. Because the LT1 is a dry intake a remote mount thermostat housing had to be plumbed in and mounted. We chose to mount it on a modified alternator bracket. The wiring harness is a custom design made by us specifically for this car. The fuses and computer used to control the fuel injection system are all mounted behind the passenger side of the dash. A L98 speed density computer was used so that mounting and purchasing of a mass air flow sensor was not needed. Twin 11" Spal electric fans were mounted to the radiator to allow clearence for the air intake tube and so the computer could control their operation.
On the interior, autometer gauges were mounted in place of the factory pieces. VetteAid supplied the peices necssary to mount the speedometer and tachometer. A center gauge setup is availible from VetteAid but was not used in this particular car. Once again the wiring of the gauges was handled by us using a harness we built.
The car is currently being painted and we hope to have some finished external pictures to add soon. We had previously rebuilt the suspension using polyurethane bushings, upgraded sway bars, and shocks. The suspension was also detailed while it was in peices. Hooker headers and a dual exhaust system were also previously installed by us. The car is lowered and rides on aftermarket rims. The owner had the interior redone in a custom manner and features custom covered Recaro seats.
